Professional School Counselor

This is my 12th year as a counselor at CPS. My background includes work with adolescents in private practice, in residential treatment, and special education. I chose to become a counselor at the primary level because I believe, as a result of my past experience, this quote by Frederick Douglass, "it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."

Appalachian State University- BA Psychology

University of West Georgia- M.Ed. Community Counseling

Jacksonville State University- Ed.S Educational Leadership

     Emotional Behavioral Disorders

     Educational Leadership

     School Counseling

My belief is that each child has unique physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs, and that students learn best in an environment where they feel encouraged, respected, and nurtured. My work is most effective when I am able to collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and community members.

My caseload at CPS this year is all first grade classes, Kindergarten: Popham, McFarland, Forrester, Barnes, and Butterworth, Pre-K: Madrid, Ylvisaker, & Peters, and SPED: Elrod, Houston, Roberts, Maguire, & Theiler.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of help in any way. My door is always open!
