Bio

Dear First Grade Families,

WELCOME!  I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Becky Graves.  I graduated with a degree in Child Development from the University of TN and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Carson-Newman College.  This is my fifteenth year teaching first grade, and I am honored to be your child’s first grade teacher!  I am married to Tim Graves, and we have a son named Cooper.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his/her fullest potential.  We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.  My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and everyone learns in a different way.  One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his/her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it.

I believe communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship.  I encourage you to contact me anytime if you have questions or concerns.  I have an open door policy.  You can send me a note, email me at becky_graves@cartersville.k12.ga.us, or call me at (770) 382-1733.  For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone, send a note home, or email you (if an email address is provided).

Please feel free to participate in your child’s first grade year as much as you are able.  Helping hands are always needed!  Whether it is reading a story to the class, helping with field trips, class parties, or any other preparation, this will enrich our classroom experiences.

If you have any questions, please contact me.  I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!

Sincerely,

Becky Graves
